Turkey were actively purchasing Ukrainian sugar

Following the export ban to the EU in the second half of 2024, Ukrainian producers actively sold sugar on the global market.

The main buyers of Ukrainian sugar were countries in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa), which collectively accounted for 37% of the total export volume.

Quite unexpectedly, Turkey was the leading buyer of Ukrainian sugar, with a 16% share of total exports. Following Turkey were Libya (12%), Cameroon (8%), North Macedonia (7%), Somalia (6%), Lebanon and Israel (5% each), and Sri Lanka (4%).

In January 2025, the EU market reopened for Ukrainian exporters, leading to an increase in export flows to European Union countries in the first month of the year.
