Ukraine’s soybean exports nearly doubled among delays in shipments from Brazil

In February, Ukraine’s soybean exports increased to 382,000 tons, up from 223,000 tons in January. This growth was driven by delays in shipments from Brazil, forcing importers to seek alternative sources to meet urgent supply needs.

These delays disrupted deliveries to key importers, forcing Turkey and Egypt to turn to Ukraine to fill the deficit.

Ukrainian soybean exports to Turkey in February increased to 118,000 tons, compared to 60,000 tons in January. Shipments to Egypt grew to 81,000 tons, up from 42,000 tons the previous month. The Netherlands also increased purchases of Ukrainian soybeans, importing around 32,000 tons in February, compared to less than 1,000 tons in January.

In the first half of the 2024/25 season, Ukraine exported 2.35 million tons of soybeans, leaving approximately 900,000 tons available for export through the end of the season.
