Pakistan is among the top 3 importers of Ukrainian soybeans

During September-December of the 2024/2025 marketing year, Pakistan imported 271.48 thousand tons of Ukrainian soybeans, securing itself the third position in the ranking of importing countries for the current season and a 15.6% share in the total export volume of soybeans. In the same period of the previous season, no soybean shipments from Ukraine to Pakistan took place. As noted earlier, active exports of Ukrainian soybeans to this country began in May 2024.

According to USDA estimates, Pakistan’s soybean import volumes for the 2024/25 marketing year could reach 1.5 million tons, an 87.5% increase compared to the previous season’s figure (800 thousand tons). Analysts suggest that this, in particular, will allow Pakistan to double its soybean processing volumes—to 1.4 million tons in the 2024/25 marketing year, compared to 700 thousand tons in the 2023/24 marketing year.

In addition to Pakistan, the top three importers of Ukrainian soybeans in September-December of the 2024/25 marketing year include Turkey and the Netherlands. In particular, Turkey leads with an import volume of 352.94 thousand tons for the reporting period, although this is nearly 17% lower than the previous season’s figure (424.32 thousand tons in September-December of the 2023/24 marketing year). The Netherlands, on the other hand, increased its imports of Ukrainian soybeans by more than 3.5 times - to 271.96 thousand tons in September-December of the 2024/25 marketing year, compared to 77.36 thousand tons in the same period of the previous season.
