The Europarliament approved the increase of export quotas for poultry meat

On November 26, 2019 the Europarliament ratified the Agreement  between the European Union and Ukraine on amendments to the economic part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

The amendments concern increase of the duty-free quotas for poultry meat export from Ukraine to the EU countries.

The document provides a gradual increase (2,5 times or up to 70 thousand tons per year) in the duty-free export quotas for poultry meat and processed poultry meat up to 2021.

Currently, within the framework of an in-depth and comprehensive Ukraine-EU FTA, the annual duty-free tariff quota for export of Ukrainian poultry meat  under the two sub items “0207 13 70” and “0207 14 70” is about 20 thousand tons.

As for the European Union, it views the agreements they reached, as a chance   to avoid the risk of unlimited and duty-free supplies of poultry meat and processed poultry meat from Ukraine to the European market.
