Export of confectionery products increased by 30%: who tastes Ukrainian sweets the most

In 2023, Ukraine has exported 89000 tons of bakery and confectionery products, which is 29% more than in 2022.

The export of sweets brought total revenues of 213 million US dollars (+ 40%). Like other groups of confectionery products, bakery products in 2023 showed an increase in export indicators.

In the geography of sales of bakery sweets of domestic production in 2023, the main consumer was the European Union, the total purchases of whose states amounted to 122 million dollars or 57% of the total value.

The main buyers of bakery sweets from Ukraine last year were: Romania - 14 thousand tons; Poland - 14 thousand tons; Moldova – 10,000 tons; Latvia - 5 thousand tons; Germany – 5 thousand tons; Georgia - 4 thousand tons; Lithuania - 4 thousand tons; Bulgaria - 3 thousand tons; Azerbaijan - 3 thousand tons.

Quite significant deliveries were also made to the United States, Türkiye, Israel, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, China, UAE and Libya. Thus, Ukraine manages to maintain its position within the 30th place in the global ranking of exporters of this group of sweets.

The commodity structure of flour confectionery exports last year consisted mainly of sweet dry biscuits (32 thousand tons), wafers (31 thousand tons), crackers and crisps (6 thousand tons), gingerbread (4 thousand tons), dry biscuits (3 thousand tons).
