President V. Zelenskyy signed Law №3613-IX on amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine regarding the customs clearance of biomethane.

Customs clearance of biomethane, in accordance with the law, will be carried out on the basis of information on the volumes of biogas or other types of gas from alternative sources, which during movement through the gas transport system, according to its physical and chemical characteristics, can be replaced by the corresponding volume of natural gas or their mixture, at each reception point - gas transmissions separately.

It is assumed that the law will contribute to:

development of a new sphere of energy production;

fulfillment of international obligations regarding decarbonization;

fulfillment of the requirements of СВАМ (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) during the export of products to the EU;

increasing the export potential of Ukraine;

attraction of international investment in the development of the energy sector and recovery  of regions of Ukraine involving the use of new technologies, etc.
