The Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada.

Legislative initiative № 0242 was supported by 317 votes of people's deputies.

The law was developed by the Ministry of Economy for the purpose of ratifying the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada, concluded on September 22, 2023 in the city of Ottawa, which, according to the Law of Ukraine "On International Agreements of Ukraine", is a necessary prerequisite for its entry into force.

It is expected that the implementation of the law will allow the completion of all domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of the amendments to the Agreement, which will contribute to the further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the countries, will allow domestic producers to receive benefits from the liberalization of Canadian product markets, will open opportunities for Ukrainian business to expand sales markets, as well as for the development and modernization of own production.
