Ukraine reduced its export of goods by 11.5% in January

In January 2025, Ukraine’s export of goods reached $3.18 billion, which is 11.5% less compared to January of the previous year. At the same time, the import of goods increased by 8.2%, reaching $5.5 billion.

The negative trade balance in the first month of the year was $2.33 billion (in January of the previous year, it was also negative at $1.5 billion). The export-to-import coverage ratio was 0.58 (compared to 0.71 a year ago).

Among the product groups that showed the most significant export growth were electrical machinery (+13.1%). However, for several traditional export goods, Ukraine experienced a reduction in volumes. Exports of ferrous metals decreased by 20.2%, cereals by 17.4%, and fats and oils by 8.5%.

Imports increased in the categories of “electrical machinery” (+80.9%) and “mineral fuels, oil, and oil products” (+20.7%).

Foreign trade operations were conducted with partners from 189 countries worldwide.
