Ukraine reduced iron ore exports by 8% in 2025

In 2025, Ukraine’s mining industry reduced iron ore exports by 8% compared to 2024, totaling 30.99 million tons.

The largest consumer of Ukrainian iron ore traditionally remains China. During the year, shipments to China amounted to 16.41 million tons (+8.7% y/y). Exports to Slovakia reached 4.4 million tons (-11.4% y/y), while deliveries to Poland totaled 4.17 million tons (-18.1% y/y).

In December, Ukraine exported 2.22 million tons of iron ore, up 0.5% month-on-month but down 35.6% compared to December 2024. Shipments to China amounted to 1.12 million tons (-12.9% m/m; -45.4% y/y), to Slovakia – 318.94 thousand tons (-12.9% m/m; -38.4% y/y), and to Poland – 259.39 thousand tons (+51.4% m/m; -34.4% y/y).

In the fourth quarter, exports declined by 18.9% compared to the same period of 2024 and by 14.4% quarter-on-quarter, totaling 6.85 million tons – the lowest quarterly level in the past two years.

Iron ore export revenues amounted to $161.33 million in December (-4.6% m/m; -40.9% y/y), and $2.34 billion for the year (-16.6% y/y). In the fourth quarter, revenues reached $524.93 million (-16.4% y/y; -3.4% q/q).
