Ukraine has set a new record in poultry meat exports

In 2019 Ukrainian producers set a new record in chicken meat exports. The UNN informed that this information was provided by Mykola Puhachov, the Deputy Director of the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economy” and the NAAS corresponding member.

In 2018 Ukraine exported 329 thousand tons of chicken meat but in 2019 the export volumes increased by 25,8% and now they amount to 414 thousand tons. Puhachov also said that in monetary terms exports of Ukrainian poultry meat amounted to 579 million USD. In total, meat and meat by-products export volumes increased by 10% during the year and now they amount to 712 million USD.  The expert also added that it became possible due to continuous broad geographical diversification and entering new markets after the trade relations with the Russian Federation had been stopped.

In 2019 the main buyers of Ukrainian meat products were the EU, Middle East and CIS countries. The European Union share in the total exports value was 28%.

Specifying the countries, which imported Ukrainian meat products the most in 2019, they are: the Netherlands (15,8%), Saudi Arabia (13,5%),
Slovakia (8,5%), Belarus (6,9%), Azerbaijan (5,9%), Iraq (4,9%), the UAE (4,8%) and Kazakhstan  (4,1%).

Mykola Puhachov informed that in total, those countries have accumulated about 2/3 of Ukraine's meat sales in the global market.

Let us remember you that Ukraine ended 2019 as one of the TOP-10 world leaders in poultry meat (mostly chicken meat) exports to the European Union. The permanent leader in this field is the “MHP” company, owned by Yurii Kosiuk, to which belong 90% of Ukrainian chicken meat exports.
