On March 5, Ukraine resumed electricity exports during certain hours of the day at a minimal level.
It is emphasized that supplies are carried out exclusively during a surplus in the energy system. The volumes of supply are still very low – only 12 MWh were exported to Moldova per day during nighttime hours.
The last time electricity exports were carried out was on November 11, 2025.
For the next day, March 6, companies reserved 120 MWh of transmission capacity for export at daily auctions. The largest capacity was booked for 10 o’clock – 20 MW. On March 5, larger capacities up to 61 MW in certain hours were registered at the auctions for the distribution of transmission capacity, but they were not actually used.
Currently, the surplus in certain hours is formed due to the active generation of solar power plants and renewable energy sources in general, as well as due to the stably high level of production at nuclear power plants.
At the same time, part of the generating capacities destroyed by Russian attacks earlier are still under repair, the restoration of which requires a long time. With the arrival of spring and warm sunny weather, electricity consumption has also significantly decreased, which affected the balance in the system.
