In January-June 2021, export of goods and services from Ukraine amounted to 34,9 billion US dollars, which is 25% more than in the corresponding period of 2020.

It is noted that according to official data of the State Statistics Service, for 6 months of 2021 export of goods and services amounted to 34,9 billion US dollars, which is 25% more than in the corresponding period of 2020. Import for the reporting period amounted to 34,5 billion US dollars, which is 27,6% more than in 2020.
“Traditionally with increasing demand for domestic products abroad and the corresponding growth of export import to Ukraine is growing, which acts as an additional source of resources needed to support export growth. At the same time, the issue of maintaining the balance in trade remains important. Thus, in the first half of the year we have a positive balance in foreign trade - 413,6 million US dollars. Besides the development of agriculture, Ukraine is going to develop industry, production and domestic processing, which is reflected in increased supplies of domestic goods to foreign markets,” - said the First Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko.
He added that the significant growth of export this year indicates positive trends in the economic recovery of Ukraine during the quarantine period. Ukraine, like other countries, has already adapted to life during the pandemic and is trying to resume its trade and economic activities.
In the first 6 months this year, Ukraine carried out export-import operations with partners from 227 countries. At the same time, export of goods amounted to 29,9 billion US dollars, which is 30,7% more than in the first half of 2020.
In 6 months, the majority of Ukrainian products were imported by: EU countries - 11,9 billion US dollars (39,7% of export of goods from Ukraine), China - 4,3 billion US dollars (14,3%) and Turkey - 1,8 billion US dollars (6%).
Most ferrous metals and their products, cereals, ores, oils, electric machines, finished food products, some chemical products, furniture, etc. were exported.
“The European Union remains Ukraine’s largest trading partner, with whom we are strengthening cooperation not only in trade but also in many other areas of the economy. According to the results of the first half of the year, we increased the supply of Ukrainian products to the EU by 43,9%. This positive trend is ensured, in particular, by the existence of a Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the establishment of direct contacts between Ukrainian and European business, the removal of technical barriers to trade and the improvement of the food safety control system. These and other steps taken by the Government ensure free access for Ukrainian products to European markets,” - Lyubchenko said.
As reported by Ukrinform, according to the State Statistics Service, in 2020 compared to 2019, import of goods decreased to 11,0% - to 54,0 billion dollars, export - to 1,7% - to 49,21 billion dollars.
