Ukraine exports beef by $6,5 million more than it imports

The balance of foreign trade of cattle and beef of Ukraine in August this year was positive and amounted to $6,46 million.

Thus, in August, Ukraine exported 1,56 thousand tons of live weight cattle, which is 4% more compared to July 2024 and 23% more compared to August 2023. The turnover for delivered animals amounted to $2,63 million (-8% compared to July 2024, +13% to August last year). About 87% of deliveries were directed to Lebanon, and 13% to Jordan. In January-August 2024, Ukraine exported 8,37 thousand tons of cattle (-83%) in the amount of $14,81 million (-47%).

Natural volumes of frozen beef exports in August amounted to 1,57 thousand tons (+7% to July, -6% to August last year). Buyers paid $5,79 million for the delivered meat (-2% to July, -14% to August). About 35% of the meat was shipped to Azerbaijan, 21% to Uzbekistan, 11% to China, and 9% to Georgia. In January-August 2024, Ukraine exported 10,95 thousand tons of frozen beef worth $44,65 million, which is 27% and 24% less than last year, respectively.

At the same time, the import of cattle by live weight in August amounted to 52,5 tons. The import of chilled beef increased to 16,8 tons (+25%), and of frozen beef - to 235,8 tons (+24%) compared to July 2024. Compared to August 2023, import of chilled beef increased by 34%, and imports of frozen red meat increased by 24%. Red meat was supplied to Ukraine from the EU, USA, Argentina, and Australia.
