In 2025, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises increased exports of merchant pig iron by 53.5% compared to 2024, reaching 1.98 million tons.
During the year, 1.33 million tons of pig iron were shipped to the United States, up 41.6% year-on-year. Exports to Italy totaled 416.31 thousand tons (+346.3% y/y), to Poland – 61.37 thousand tons (-2.7% y/y), and to the Netherlands – 52.03 thousand tons.
In December, shipments increased by 73.5% month-on-month and by 94.7% year-on-year, reaching 246.52 thousand tons. Deliveries to the U.S. market amounted to 47.95 thousand tons (-15.8% m/m; -58.7% y/y), while exports to Poland reached 9.14 thousand tons (+51% m/m; +300.4% y/y). Italy imported 182.51 thousand tons (+290% m/m). The Netherlands did not import pig iron from Ukraine in December.
In the fourth quarter, pig iron exports rose by 35.7% compared to the same period of 2024 and by 11.9% quarter-on-quarter, totaling 579.47 thousand tons – the highest quarterly figure since the start of the full-scale war.
Annual export revenue from pig iron amounted to $759.88 million, up 51.9% year-on-year. In December, revenue increased by 79.5% month-on-month and by 81.9% year-on-year, reaching $90.76 million. In the fourth quarter, revenue grew by 25.4% year-on-year and by 6.6% quarter-on-quarter, totaling $211.76 million.
