Slovakia’s SEPS confirmed termination of the contract with Ukrenergo from May

NEC “Ukrenergo” has received an official letter from the Slovak transmission system operator, SEPS, regarding the unilateral termination of the Agreement on mutual emergency assistance. The final termination of the contractual terms will take effect from May of this year.

As for the impact of the Slovak system operator’s decision on the situation in Ukraine’s energy system, Ukrenergo emphasizes that there will be no changes for Ukrainian consumers. Emergency assistance from Slovakia was used by NEC “Ukrenergo” quite rarely and in very limited volumes. The last such case was recorded back in January of this year.

The termination of the Agreement on mutual emergency assistance does not affect commercial exchange in any way. Electricity imports from Slovakia to Ukraine have been and continue to be carried out without any restrictions, in accordance with the results of daily and long-term auctions for the allocation of cross-border transmission capacity.
