The State of Qatar has opened a market for honey from Ukraine and products of apiculture.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

“Ukrainian honey producers and products of apiculture have the opportunity to export their own products to the State of Qatar. The relevant certificate was approved by the competent authorities of the two countries. The opening of the market became possible thanks to the joint work of diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and specialists of the State Food and Consumer Service,” - the statement reads.

“The Qatari certificate creates new economic opportunities for Ukrainian companies, in particular for our powerful food exports. Honey to Qatar, meat and eggs to Japan, dairy products to Turkey, small cattle to Kuwait are a list of new opportunities that Ukrainian diplomats have opened in cooperation with the State Food and Consumer Service for the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex only in the last few months. We will continue to move forward,” -  said Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

“Ukrainian honey is known all over the world. We rank second in the world as exporters of this delicious and healthy product. At the same time our  producers are improving their positions. In order to make them even more competitive and stronger, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the State Food and Consumer Service continues to open new markets. This time a health certificate has been agreed for the export of honey and products of apiculture to Qatar,” - said Vladyslava Magaletska, head of the State Food and Consumer Service.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the State Food and Consumer Service are working together to open new markets for Ukrainian export, providing support to producers and removing technical barriers to trade, as well as providing state guarantees for compliance with partner countries, the statement said.

The Council of Exporters and Investors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (REI) is a platform where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accumulates information on investment and trade opportunities from around the world, as well as facilitates business contacts between Ukrainian exporters and importers abroad.

As Ukrinform reported, due to unfavorable weather conditions in 2021, the collection of acacia honey in Ukraine decreased by almost 40%, linden - by almost 50%. Last year, despite the unfavorable spring, Ukraine exported a record amount of honey - more than 81 thousand tons. And the total volume of honey production exceeded 150 thousand tons.
