The project for the construction of the Chop-Uzhgorod European gauge track has been launched

During a working trip to Transcarpathia on April 11, with the participation of Prime Minister D. Shmyhal, the construction project of the Chop-Uzhgorod European gauge track was launched by Ukrzaliznytsia. Uzhgorod will be the first regional center connected to Europe by a Euro-gauge track. This will make it possible to launch a direct railway connection between Uzhgorod and Vienna, Bratislava, Kosice, Budapest, Prague, Bucharest, Dresden and Belgrade.

The implementation of the project will establish a transport hub in Uzhgorod, which will provide a convenient and fast transfer of passengers between broad-gauge trains and trains of EU countries. The construction of this Eurotrack will be financed by EU grant funds, which Ukrzaliznytsia received as part of the Connecting Europe Facility program. In the nearest future, it is planned to use EU funds to implement similar projects in Lviv and Chernivtsi.
