The Polish grain import ban cost Ukraine 143 million US dollars

Kyiv has lost 143 million US dollars last month because of the Polish government's decision to ban the import of Ukrainian agricultural goods. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka at the Brussels Economic Forum. The European Commission will pay Polish farmers "compensation for nothing", as the protest was "a bluff on the part of Polish farmers".

In April, Poland and several other eastern EU members imposed restrictions on Ukrainian food export, mentioning a harsh drop in market prices that hurt their farmers. This step caused criticism from the European Commission. "Thanks to the intervention of the European Commission, we are getting a certain easing of the situation, but the situation is not solved," - Kachka stated.
