Poland became the largest importer of products to Ukraine

The total import of agricultural products from Poland, including animal forage, amounted to 825,93 million US dollars in 2023.

Our export of agricultural products to Poland exceeded this amount more than twice - 1,74 billion US dollars.

According to customs, one of the largest export products from Ukraine to Poland is corn, which is used in animal forage. Last year, we sent 546,3 thousand tons of corn worth 115 million US dollars to Poland. We imported 4,89 thousand tons worth 1,1 million US dollars from Poland.

Besides, 322,1 thousand tons of wheat worth 68,9 million US dollars and 52,1 thousand tons of barley worth 10,4 million US dollars were delivered last year. Polish import amounted to 3,6 thousand tons of wheat for 814 thousand US dollars and 213 tons of barley for 60 thousand US dollars. Also, the main Ukrainian exports include: nuts - 35,2 thousand tons worth 50,19 million US dollars; soybeans – 156,9 thousand tons for 66,3 million US dollars; rapeseed - 93,3 thousand tons for 50,5 million US dollars, sunflower seeds - 29,7 thousand tons for 11,8 million US dollars; soybean oil – 217,3 thousand tons for 181,3 million US dollars; sunflower and cottonseed oil – 416,2 thousand tons for 354,6 million US dollars; rapeseed and mustard oil - 74,3 thousand tons for 63,2 million US dollars; sugar – 39,6 thousand tons for 30,5 million US dollars; cake (from soybean oil and vegetable fats) - a total of 1,3 million tons for 361,7 million US dollars.

In general, among the foods imported from Poland, cheeses occupy a large share. Last year, they sold them for 83,3 million US dollars (15,18 thousand tons).

Also, Poland exports the most to Ukraine: chocolate - 12,6 thousand tons for 60,9 million US dollars; bakery products - 11,3 thousand tons worth 50 million US dollars; vegetables, prepared or preserved (frozen and unfrozen) - a total of 28,5 thousand tons for 61,7 million US dollars; juices and sweet waters - a total of 65,2 thousand tons for 42 million US dollars; coffee – 7,1 thousand tons for 32 million US dollars; animal feed products – 50,2 thousand tons for 101,8 million US dollars.

Ukraine also imports borscht products from Poland: 7,3 thousand tons of cabbage (6,6 million US dollars), 23,7 thousand tons of onions (16,5 million US dollars), 15,5 thousand tons of carrots and beets (8,6 million US dollars), almost 10 000 tons of fat (10,4 million US dollars).

Despite the fact that, in monetary terms, Ukraine exports twice as much agricultural products and food to Poland as it imports, in general, Polish imported goods significantly outweigh Ukrainian exports. Last year, Poland delivered 6,6 billion US dollars worth of goods to Ukraine, while Ukraine delivered 4,75 billion US dollars to its neighbors.
