The Hazelstar company plans to launch a plant in Uman district of  Cherkasy region in autumn that will process hazelnuts of the Barcelona, ​​Catalan and other sorts, in addition to the Italian ones.

The owner of the company, candidate of agricultural sciences Makar Tereshchenko, told about it.

"Italian and other European or American sorts are processed using different methods," he explained. – The first ones are blanched by roasting, and all others are blanched by steam. The first after that have a nice cream color, the second slightly change their structure."

The confectionery industry has a demand for nuts blanched both by roasting and by steam, besides, it accepts sorts of hazelnuts of the most different origins - Azerbaijani, Georgian, Polish.

In autumn the new plant plans to process the first 100-200 tons of hazelnuts.
