A new checkpoint on the border with Romania will start operating in summer

It is planned that in the summer of 2026 the “Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației” checkpoint will begin operating for passenger vehicles.

It is noted that after the implementation of the first phase, the checkpoint’s capacity will reach up to 700 vehicles per day.

Particular attention was paid by the parties to the reconstruction of the “Porubne – Siret” checkpoint. The implementation of this project will increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Romanian border by 300 trucks daily.

A promising infrastructure project was also discussed – the construction of a bridge over the Danube between Orlivka and Isaccea. The new bridge could become an important transport corridor between Ukraine and the European Union and strengthen the region’s logistics capacity.

The parties also considered the issue of expanding the network of checkpoints, implementing joint customs and border control, as well as developing new transport routes, including railway ones.

The implementation of these projects will reduce border crossing time, increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Romanian border, and strengthen economic cooperation between Ukraine and Romania.
