The State Recovery Agency implemented joint customs and border control at the Reni - Giurgiulesti checkpoint. From now on, the Ukrainian and Moldovan control services will work together at this checkpoint.

To implement this initiative, the Recovery Service in Odesa region has made the repairing works. 3 floors and the facade of the administrative building were modernized, sanitary facilities were updated, the road surface was renewed, new road signs and information indicators were installed. Joint control will reduce border crossing times for all types of transport passing through Reni.

This is only the first step within the Green Corridor initiative, which will connect the checkpoints of Reni (Ukraine), Giurgiulesti (Moldova) and Galats (Romania). The aim is to simplify the route for trucks going to the port of  Galați.

The next stage will be the launch of coordinated control between Moldova and Romania at the "Giurgiulesti -Galați" checkpoint.
