Indonesia is introducing new phytosanitary requirements for the import of Ukrainian wheat from June 1, 2026. The updated rules will concern the preparation of documents, grain quality control and mandatory fumigation of cargoes.
From now on, each batch of wheat exported to Indonesia must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate with an additional declaration of compliance with Indonesian requirements. It is also necessary to indicate the exporter’s registration code in the documents.
The importing country is also tightening grain safety requirements. Ukrainian wheat must be free from dangerous pests and diseases, including the khapra beetle, Fusarium head blight and bacterial leaf spot. In addition, the grain must not contain soil, weeds, plant residues or other impurities.
One of the key innovations will be the mandatory fumigation of grain with phosphine before shipment to Indonesia. Also, exporters or their representatives in Ukraine will have to pre-arrange notification for each batch of cargo before its dispatch.
