In 2019, Ukraine exported 1 million 144 thousand tons of fuelwood with a total value of 111.78 million dollars. The largest buyers of the product were Italy, Poland and Germany.
In 2020, 1 million 072 thousand tons of wood were sold abroad. The export value amounted to 101.25 million dollars. The leader among buyers was Poland, followed by Italy and Germany.
The largest volume of fuelwood over the past 7 years Ukraine exported in 2021 – 1 million 210 thousand tons, receiving 123.36 million dollars from the sale. Romania purchased the most wood, as well as Poland and Germany.
In the 1st year of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, 1 million 041 thousand tons of Ukrainian fuelwood were sent for export. Its value amounted to 193.27 million dollars, and the leading buyers were Poland, Germany and Romania.
In 2023, export volumes almost returned to the 2021 level – 1 million 201 thousand tons worth 186.75 million dollars. Romania purchased the most Ukrainian wood, as well as Poland and Germany.
During 2024, Ukraine sent 1 million 089 thousand tons of fuelwood for export. Its value amounted to 131.17 million dollars. The most active buyers remained Poland, Romania and Germany.
From January to October 2025, 894 thousand tons of fuelwood worth 136 million dollars were exported. In the current year, Polish, Romanian and German buyers purchased the most Ukrainian wood.
On October 31, the government extended the moratorium on the export of unprocessed timber from Ukraine, which was introduced from November 1, 2015 for 10 years. The zero export quota will remain in effect at least until the end of 2025. Cabinet Resolution No. 1399 was also supplemented with a ban on the export of fuelwood in the form of logs, billets, branches, brushwood, twigs (or chips or wood shavings) – also until the end of the year.
