The government is preparing a licensing regime for the import of certain products from Moldova in response to restrictions on poultry meat exports

The CMU is preparing a draft resolution that provides for the introduction of a licensing regime for the import of grapes, wine and spirits from Moldova.

The purpose of the decision is to apply measures in response to the discriminatory actions of the Moldovan side and to protect the economic interests of Ukraine in accordance with the norms of international trade law.

The basis for preparing the changes was the decision of the National Agency for Food Safety of the Republic of Moldova (ANSA) dated January 26, 2026 No. 48 on the temporary suspension of imports of poultry meat, by-products and products containing poultry meat from Ukraine. At the same time, incorrect information regarding the reasons for such a decision was submitted in the notification to the WTO, which creates risks of spreading unfounded restrictions on Ukrainian agri-food products by other states.

The Ukrainian side emphasizes that immediately after receiving the signal, state control and investigation were initiated. According to the results of the initial inspection, the presence of metronidazole was confirmed only in one sample of feed. At the same time, no inconsistencies were recorded in the poultry meat itself.

The introduction of a licensing regime for the import of Moldovan wine and spirits products is considered as a proportional and legal instrument of response in case of the absence of a constructive review of the restrictions.
