In the first quarter of 2023, 25,4 thousand tons of dairy products were exported

In the 1st quarter of 2023, Ukraine exported 25,4 thousand tons of dairy products, which is 64% more than in the same period last year. The value indicator was 56,1 million US dollars - 49% more than last year. Last month, export reached 8,94 thousand tons, which is equivalent to 20,3 million US dollars. Growth compared to February was 0,8% and 1,8%, compared to January – 16,7% and 25,1%, respectively.

In the 1st quarter of 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, the supply of cheeses increased significantly: 2,1 thousand tons were exported for the amount of 10,2 million US dollars, which is 2 times and 2,3 times more, respectively. Active demand for Ukrainian products was in the market of Kazakhstan and Moldova. Also, during this period, supplies of milk whey increased by 2 times and reached 3,5 thousand tons. In March, 1,25 thousand tons were exported, which is 12,2% more than in February. The share of exports is: China (41,9%), Jordan (13,8%), Poland (12,7%).

In March, ice cream was exported most of all - 809,7 tons, which is 55% more than in February. The largest importers of these dairy products are: Germany (22%), Moldova (20,6%), Poland (8,5%).

At the same time, the import of dairy products significantly reduced in the 1st quarter of 2023 compared to 2022. In 3 months, 13,1 thousand tons of dairy products were imported, which is 33% less than last year. Cheeses account for 54% of import. EU countries were the largest suppliers of cheese in the last month.
