The EU renewed duties on oat imported from Ukraine

Since June 6, the EU extended for another year the exemption from customs duties on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, adopted in 2022.

The European Commission subjected the import of Ukrainian oat to the terms of the trade agreement valid since 2016 until June 5, 2025.

Customs import of poultry meat, eggs, sugar, corn, honey, oats and cereals (sprouted grains) are now limited to average import volumes from mid-2021 to the end of 2023, above which tariffs are automatically restored within 14 days - common wheat and barley are not subject to tariffs, the article says.

As for oats, the average annual import from mid-2021 to the end of 2023 was about 2,440 tons, and "once this volume was reached, the Commission re-imposed the corresponding tariff quota."

In total, Ukraine exported about 7 000 tons of oats worldwide in 2022, and 11 173 tons from July 2023 to May 2024.
