Egypt has significantly increased purchases of Ukrainian wheat during July – April of the 2025/26 marketing year. Over this period, Ukraine’s share in the country’s total wheat imports grew to 23%, while a year earlier it stood at 15%.
In physical terms, supplies of Ukrainian grain have almost doubled. While in the same period of the previous season Egypt imported 1.7 million tons of Ukrainian wheat, this season the volume has increased to 3.3 million tons.
This growth indicates the strengthening of competitive positions of Ukrainian exporters in one of the most important grain sales markets in the world.
Ukraine has not only taken advantage of increased demand but has also expanded its presence at the expense of the part of the market previously occupied by Russian and French suppliers.
Experts note that the increase in the share of Ukrainian wheat in Egypt is an important signal for the domestic agro-sector, as North African countries traditionally remain among the key buyers of Ukrainian grain.
