China has agreed to the conditions for the import of Ukrainian peas

The Chinese authorities have agreed to a phytosanitary protocol that will allow the import of peas from Ukraine. This was announced by the President of the Council of Bean Producers and Consumers of Ukraine, Antonina Skliarenko, during her speech at the Agro Ukraine Summit. She expressed hope that now farmers will be interested in increasing the area of sowing and production of peas. The protocol is currently being processed by the State Consumer Service.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, last year the production of peas in Ukraine increased by 48% compared to the previous year - from 269 to 399,5 thousand tons. From July to November 2023, 132,7 thousand tons of peas were exported, which is 22% higher than the corresponding indicator of the 2022/23 season.

However, according to GrainTrade, export demand prices for peas remain at a low level - 230-250/t US dollars with delivery to the port, while processors offer 10 000-10 500/t UAH with delivery to the factory. At the same time, the prospects of exporting Ukrainian peas to China will support demand and prices.
