The Ukrinform correspondent reports that during a webinar, Stepan Kapshuk, the General Director of the Association “Ukroliyaprom” has reported that in April 2020 Ukraine has exported the record amount of the sunflower oil – 717 thousand tons. According to the results of the 2019/2020 marketing year (hereinafter – the MY) a new record in production (7 million tons) and in exports (6,5 million tons) of Ukrainian sunflower oil will be set.

If we talk about the results of the last MY (2018/2019), 6,5 million tons of oil were produced and 6,1 million tons from these were exported. This year the results will be bigger, as it is expected to export approximately 6,5 million tons of oil and to produce 7 million tons of this product. That is why, currently, despite the crisis, all the manufacturers continue working. In April, 717 thousand tons of oil have been exported and this is the record number.

According to Kapshuk, in monetary terms, during 4 month of 2020, Ukraine has exported fat-and-oil products worth more than 2,5 billion USD, 1,84 billion USD from this sum is money received from exports of the sunflower oil. He has also added that in total, the share of the oil-and-fat products in Ukrainian agricultural exports in monetary terms is 33%.

As it has been reported before, according to the data, provided by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, during 4 month of 2020, 2,53 million tons of sunflower oil have been exported through Ukraine and this is 15% more than in the previous year (2,2 million tons). At the same time, 586 thousand tons of sunflower oil have been exported to India; 309,6 thousand tons – to China; 262,9 thousand tons – to the Netherlands.
