For participants in foreign economic activity, an important source of practical experience is Binding Tariff Information (BTI) decisions issued by the customs administrations of EU member states. Such decisions contain detailed descriptions of goods and the justifications for their tariff classification, helping to better understand European approaches to determining commodity codes.
A new service for searching BTI decisions adopted by the customs administrations of the European Union member states is now available on the Unified State Information Web Portal “Single Window for International Trade”.
The new functionality makes it possible to quickly find decisions by various criteria, including: decision number; period of issue; country that issued the decision; goods code or range of UKT ZED / Combined Nomenclature codes; keywords from the description, characteristics and properties of the goods.
For each decision, the description of the goods, its code, the justification of the tariff classification and additional materials in the original language are available.
The service will help Ukrainian importers, exporters, customs brokers and logistics companies, already at the stage of preparing foreign economic operations, to familiarise themselves with the practice of the customs administrations of EU countries, take into account European approaches to the classification of goods and reduce the risk of disputes arising during customs clearance.
