In May 2026, Ukraine exported 10.93 thousand t of dairy products, which is 2% more than in April, while imports grew by 41% to 7.92 thousand t.

In May 2026, 10.93 thousand t of dairy products were exported for a total of 32.89 million USD. In physical terms, export volumes increased by 2%, and revenue grew by 5% compared to April 2026.

Compared to May 2025, physical export volumes decreased by 27%, and revenue fell by 35%.

In January-May 2026, Ukraine exported 52.25 thousand t (-10%) of dairy products for a total of 145.81 million USD (-19%).

The largest share of exports in May consisted of condensed milk and cream (31%), ice cream (26%), cheeses (18%), butter (8%), casein (6%) and whey (6%).

Compared to April, supplies of condensed milk and cream increased the most – to 3.64 thousand t (+18%), ice cream – to 2.24 thousand t (+21%) and cheeses – to 1.24 thousand t (+6%). Exports of other dairy products decreased.

In annual terms, exports of fermented milk products increased – to 597 t (+19%) and ice cream (+0.3%), while supplies of other product categories decreased.

In May, compared to April, revenue from exports of condensed milk and cream grew the most – to 10.2 million USD (+25%), ice cream – to 8.39 million USD (+21%) and cheeses – to 5.81 million USD (+7%). Revenues from butter exports decreased the most – by 42%.

Compared to May 2025, revenue increased for shipped fermented milk products – to 854 thousand USD (+25%), whey – to 1.97 million USD (+24%) and ice cream (+4%).

At the same time, in May Ukraine imported 7.92 thousand t of dairy products, which is 41% more than in April and 57% more compared to May of last year.

For the first 5 months of this year, imports amounted to 30.49 thousand t worth 145.35 million USD. The share of cheeses in the import structure reached 61%.

The foreign trade balance in May was negative and amounted to -1.17 million USD.
