Ukraine has officially recognized the principle of regionalization in accordance with EU norms, which allows the resumption of supplies of fresh pork from Spain. Restrictions were previously introduced for this country due to an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF).

A mechanism has been agreed that allows the export of products from territories free from ASF, even if cases of the virus were recorded in other regions of the country.

According to the agreed conditions, meat for export to Ukraine must originate from areas where no cases of African swine fever among domestic pigs have been registered during the last 12 months.

In addition, animals must come from farms and slaughter enterprises located outside the infected zones, and within a radius of 10 km from them, no cases of the disease should have been recorded during the 40 days before slaughter.
