Port blockade has halved Ukrainian oil exports

Due to the halt in maritime exports, Ukraine is currently shipping about 300 thousand tonnes of vegetable oil per month – only half of previous volumes.

In August, sunflower oil is being exported at a rate of 5–7 thousand tonnes per day, with an additional 2–3 thousand tonnes of rapeseed and soybean oil. In total, this amounts to around 8 thousand tonnes per day, or up to 300 thousand tonnes per month. This is half the volumes recorded before sea exports were stopped.

Difficulties in shipping finished oil have become the key reason for the collapse in purchase prices for sunflower seeds. The market is currently facing problems with product delivery, as well as a noticeable shortage of transport and storage facilities.
