For the first 5 months of 2026, Ukraine significantly increased potato import volumes. From January to May, 19.1 thousand t of potatoes were imported to the Ukrainian market, and the total value of this product reached 12.1 million USD.

The structure of potato import supplies in 2026 shows a clear geographical concentration. Egypt provides the largest share of imports – accounting for 25.8% of all supplies. Azerbaijan became the second country by export volume, supplying 19% of imported potatoes, and Poland ranks third with 16.6%.

The growth in potato imports is explained by the need to maintain a stable level of supply on the domestic market, especially during the off-season period when last year’s harvest stocks are running out.

Analysis of trends from previous years shows that throughout 2025 Ukraine imported 123.6 thousand t of potatoes, spending 66.3 million USD on it. The figures for January-May 2026 confirm that the domestic market remains dependent on external suppliers, and the pricing policy of importers directly affects retail prices for consumers.
