Food from Ukraine: nearly 16 thousand tonnes of flour sent to Syria

Ukraine and Syria plan to expand cooperation in the agricultural sector, combining food support with the development of trade, technology and knowledge exchange.

This was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi and Syria’s Minister of Agriculture Bazil Hafez al-Suwaydan.

The ministers paid particular attention to food support for Syria. Under the Food from Ukraine programme, Ukraine has already supplied the country with 15.66 thousand tonnes of wheat flour.

Food from Ukraine is not limited to humanitarian deliveries – the programme also involves the transfer of technologies, knowledge and practical solutions applied in Ukraine’s agricultural sector.

Following the meeting, the parties will continue preparations for an official visit by a Ukrainian delegation to Syria. During the visit, they plan to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation.
