Ukraine remains one of the key suppliers of organic berries to the EU, with wild berries in highest demand among importers. According to a study by the certification body “Organic Standard”, in 2025 Ukraine exported 15.4 thousand tons of organic berries worth 39.8 million euros. The main export crops remain raspberry and strawberry, but the largest number of requests comes specifically for wild bilberry, elderberry, cranberry, lingonberry and other forest berries.

Ukraine virtually dominates the European market for organic bilberry, providing more than 95% of its imports from third countries. Last year, 6.8 thousand tons of bilberry, 2.6 thousand tons of elderberry, 2.2 thousand tons of raspberry, 1.4 thousand tons of strawberry and 640 tons of cherry were supplied to the EU. At the same time, exports of cultivated berries overall decreased compared to the previous year, with the exception of blueberries.

Demand for wild berries continues to grow. In 2025, elderberry exports increased more than threefold – to 2.6 thousand tons; supplies of cherry, cranberry, lingonberry, blackthorn and sea buckthorn also grew. In total, Ukraine exported 11.8 thousand tons of wild organic berries worth 27.1 million euros. Although physical supply volumes slightly decreased, their value increased due to higher prices and a greater share of products with higher added value.

Almost all organic berries are exported in frozen form, while bilberry, elderberry, raspberry and strawberry are partially supplied dried or freeze-dried. Such products are used for the production of teas, concentrates, food supplements and functional foods, which provides producers with higher profitability. The main buyers of Ukrainian organic berries remain Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Czechia, Belgium and France.

Despite a reduction in the area of organic berry plantations from 1,704 to 1,615 hectares, the number of producers remained unchanged – 120 farms, while the number of exporters increased from 31 to 35. At the same time, areas under raspberry and blueberries continue to expand, while strawberry and cherry plantations are shrinking due to lower profitability.

A separate promising area remains the export of organic walnuts. Ukraine, together with Moldova, is the largest supplier of this product to the EU, with the main buyers being the Netherlands, Romania, Austria, France, Germany and Italy. At the same time, almost the entire export is carried out in the form of raw materials, which European companies package or process under their own brands.
