Geological services of Ukraine and France have made significant progress in practical interaction, which was facilitated by the joint implementation of a practical project on the verification of a deposit of strategic raw materials (graphite).

This year, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the State Geological and Subsoil Service and BRGM, which creates a framework for the implementation of specific joint projects in the geological sphere.

The Council was established on February 4, 2026, within the framework of the Joint Ukrainian-French Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and is designed to promote investment attraction, implementation of joint projects, and expansion of the presence of Ukrainian companies in the French and European markets. On the French side, the partner and co-chair is MEDEF International.

On May 28, the Ukrainian part of the council was established.
