The oat market in Ukraine in the 2025/26 MY demonstrates an unusual combination of opposing trends: a decline in production amid growing external demand.
A reduction in sown areas has led to a drop in gross harvest to about 360 thousand tons, while the crop maintains stable yields at 2.6 t/ha. In such a configuration, each ton of oats gains greater strategic importance for the market.
Exports have become a key factor in supporting the domestic balance. During the first half of the season, Ukraine shipped about 40 thousand tons of oats – the highest volume in the last 10 years. The main demand was formed by Turkey (approximately 24 thousand tons) and India (8.2 thousand tons), which significantly changed the sales geography.
The processing segment plays a separate role. The gradual recovery of production and exports of oat groats and flakes is returning interest from EU countries, Israel and African markets. The structure of flows is becoming more diverse, and processing is once again taking a noticeable place in the export model.
