Ukraine launches a new food initiative for Africa and Asia

Ukraine has announced the scaling up of the humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine into a broader program, Food from Ukraine. The new program provides for a transition from targeted food aid to systemic international partnership.

According to Svyrydenko, despite ongoing missile attacks, blocked ports, destroyed terminals, and strikes on agricultural infrastructure, Ukraine has not stopped food shipments. This has made it possible to provide food to more than 20 million people in vulnerable regions around the world.

This season, Ukraine remains a key player in the global market, supplying 36% of global sunflower oil exports, 38% of sunflower meal, and over 13% of global corn supplies.

Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine has exported more than 66 million tonnes of food to countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Ukraine is now taking the next step – moving from the role of a raw material exporter to a country offering full-cycle solutions, from high-quality food products to modern technologies and partnership programs. This approach is intended to help African countries not only receive food supplies, but also develop their own production, forming a more resilient food system.
