In Ukraine, customs duties and VAT on the import of energy equipment were abolished

From 00:00 On July 27, Laws of Ukraine  № 3853-IX and  № 3854-IX of 16.07.2024, which provide for the application of exemption from payment of customs duties when importing certain types of goods, enter into force. In particular, the laws provide for the possibility of applying exemption from customs duties and VAT when importing energy equipment into Ukraine: power generation equipment; equipment for wind and solar generation; batteries (except low-capacity batteries).

In addition, the list of goods that are exempted from paying customs duties upon import includes equipment for the production of countermeasures against technical reconnaissance and/or the repair of mechanized demining machines.

Exemptions also extend to such important defense equipment as electronic warfare systems. Not only anti-drone rifles, but also other "radio-electronic means of detecting and countering unmanned aerial vehicles" will be imported into Ukraine for defense purposes without payment of customs duties, the State Migration Service of Ukraine stresses.

At the same time, preferential importation of components to Ukraine is provided for the organization of own production and repairing of mechanized demining machines, as well as for the production by Ukrainian enterprises of active means of countering technical reconnaissance.

The legislative changes also provide for preferential importation of a wide range of energy security products, including turbines, motors, transformers, batteries and other components. This applies to both commercial import and goods sent in international mail and express shipments.
