In May Ukraine exported goods worth 3,34 billion USD

The goods export volume from Ukraine in May was 12,2 million tons, which equals 3,34 billion USD in monetary terms.

“Exports from Ukraine in May 2024 amounted to 3 billion 340 million USD. Physical export volumes were 12,2 million tons. Despite the physical volume being 6,9 % lower compared to April, the total cost in comparison with April is only 0,5 % lower”, said Taras Kachka.

He relates it to smaller amounts of last year’s crop grain products export, which is typical for May. Thus, corn export last month decreased by 452 thousand as compared to April, and wheat by 285 thousand tons.

At the same time the Economy Ministry sees metallurgy export increase: semi-finished products - by 40%, up to 184 thousand tons, flat rolled products - by 17%, up to 117 thousand tons, seamless pipes - by 50.2%, up to 51 thousand tons.

When import is concerned, its volumes in monetary terms lessened by 7 % compared to April and amounted to 5,1 billion USD.

Export according to the transport types shows a similar tendency with the goods. Thus, sea transport in May delivered 8,5 million tons of exported goods, which is 1 million tons less than in April. At the same time, export by road transport, which last month amounted to 896,000 tons (+10,7% more), is recovering.

1,7 % more of Ukrainian products have been exported to EU countries worth 1,867 billion USD, including Poland (with export increase by 12 %, up to 365,8 million USD). We supplied 30 % less products to China in May than in April (256 million USD less).

Corn is the main product exported to China and it explains the situation. However, export to India was enlarged by 85% (by 148 million USD). The mostly exported good to India is sunflower oil. This product export in May increased by 13,7 % and amounted to 714 thousand tons.
