In March this year, Ukraine has exported 7,2 million tons of agricultural products, which is 10,2% less than in the previous month.
As for the structure of product exports in March 2023, it looked like this:
grain crops – 5,2 million tons (corn – 53%, wheat – 40%, barley – 7%), a reduce compared to the previous month – 11%;
oil crops – 445,3 thousand tons (soy – 51%, rape – 35% and sunflower seeds – 12%), fall – 26%;
vegetable oils - 651,1 thousand tons (sunflower oil - 93%, soybean oil - 5% and rapeseed oil - 1%), growth - 1%;
cakes after extraction of vegetable oils – 480,5 thousand tons (sunflower – 86%, soybean – 14%), drop – 13%;
other types of agricultural products – 405 000 tons, growth – 6%.
The reduce in export volumes in March 2024 was caused by a number of factors:
active shelling of the south of Ukraine by russian troops, which leads to irregularity in the work of sea ports and negatively affects the shipments;
continued blocking of exports by Polish protesters;
large volumes of export in previous months, which reduce transitory balances;
very low prices at the world market for all types of grain and oil crops, which forces farmers to expect a more favorable price.
