Operators of the European energy system ENTSO-E have agreed on a gradual increase in Ukraine’s net capacity for electricity export.
This was reported by the National Power Company “Ukrenergo”.
Since March 16, 2022, the Ukrainian power system has been operating synchronously with ENTSO-E, but so far in the mode of trial emergency synchronization. In order to switch from a trial mode to permanent synchronization and start a full-fledged export of electricity from Ukraine, a number of technical measures must be performed.
An increase in Ukrainian exports is beneficial for both parties. For Ukraine it is a chance to receive additional income and for Europe it is a chance to increase its power safety. The energy received from Ukraine can cover part of the electricity consumption in the region of Central and Eastern Europe and reduce the dependence of these countries on the Russian Federation.
