One of the possible options that will help our farmers sell last year's grain, as well as preserve the grain of 2022, is making of an international supply for agricultural products in Ukraine.

This was stated by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Oleksandr Haydu, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Verkhovna Rada's website.

"It will be in the way that our partners will buy grain from Ukrainian farmers, and the state will guarantee its preservation and export after the ports are unblocked. In this case, it is very important to decide now where this grain will be stored. After all, in the fall we may face a significant shortage of space for keeping grain - there will not be enough storage for 15 million tons of products,'' - said the people's deputy.

According to his words, in order to avoid this, several initiatives are being developed: a registered draft law on the cancellation of customs duties on the import of sleeves, bags for temporary storage of grain and related equipment. The option of assistance from international partners in the construction of ground grain warehouses  is also being considered.

"We understand that the export due to the blocking of ports is half of what it was before the war. And this, in turn, affects the work of farmers, who are worried that they will not have a possibility to pay salaries to workers, sharecroppers and to begin sowing campaign in autumn. Therefore, we will look for all possible options to support farmers and ensure food security of Ukraine and the world," Haydu concluded.

As Ukrinform informed, on July 22, an agreement was signed in Istanbul as a result of a quadrilateral meeting between Ukraine, Turkey, the United Nations and Russia, within the framework of which grain and other foodstuffs will be exported from the ports of Ukraine.
