On April 10, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania Kestutis Navikas paid a visit to Kyiv to meet with the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi to fulfill the previous bilateral agreements.
The Lithuanian delegation to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine also included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas, Adviser to the Minister Daivaras Rybakovas, Deputy Defense Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania Tomas Matulevičius.
Mykola Solskyi expressed great gratitude from all the Ukrainian people for the comprehensive assistance provided by the Republic of Lithuania since the first days of Russian aggression in Ukraine, in particular for supporting the agricultural sector of our country.
“Lithuania has responded to the call of our country's leadership to resist the Russian invasion and continues to support Ukraine in the military, political, economic and humanitarian spheres, which is difficult to overestimate,”- said Mykola Solskyi.
In his turn, the Lithuanian Minister of Agriculture noted that the Lithuanian Government is going to continue provide comprehensive support to Ukraine, especially in the field which he is personally responsible for.
The main issue of the meeting of Ukrainian and Lithuanian ministers was the use of logistics opportunities of the Republic of Lithuania for the export of Ukrainian grain to traditional markets for Ukrainian agricultural products in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Minister Kestutis Navikas noted that the Lithuanian Transport Authority is currently working on sending a 2 000-ton testing train from Ukraine in the nearest future, which is obviously insufficient, but it will be the first step in implementing the global project.
