The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi and the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania - State Secretary Ionel Skriosteanu during the joint meeting discussed issues of establishing uninterrupted supplies of agricultural products from Ukraine to traditional export-dependent markets. Mykola Solskyi stressed that Ukraine has food supplies for at least two years to meet its own food needs, and in some types of products - even more.

Besides this, we have tens of millions of tons of agricultural products for export, but there are problems with its supply now, as Russia has blocked all our sea ports. As a result, according to the Minister’s words, Ukraine loses 1,5 billion US dollars a month, the food crisis is developing in European countries, and hunger is intensifying in African countries.

“Therefore, together with our partners we are looking for some alternative logistics routes to send our goods through European seaports, including the Romanian seaport of Constantsa. Besides this, we are discussing the possibility of railway transportation, increasing the volume of transit cargo transportations,”-  said Mykola Solskyi.

The Minister thanked his Romanian counterpart for the constructive dialogue and expressed hope that the outlined issues will be solved in the nearest future. They also agreed to maintain a dialogue on the issues under discussion.
