On 7 February, 2022, the President of Ukraine signed Decree № 41/2022 «On  issues of national priorities for the transformation of food systems in Ukraine», by which gave the order to  the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to prepare and approve an action plan for the transformation of food systems in Ukraine up to 2030.

«Implementation of the provisions of the Decree will contribute to the implementation of the National Dialogue on Food Systems and the UN Summit in order to improve Ukraine's food security. It will also create conditions for improving the nutrition of the population of Ukraine, increasing the production and export of Ukrainian agricultural products to international markets, strengthening our country's reputation as a reliable food supplier, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030», - commented the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Trade representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka. 

It should be mentioned that the UN Summit on Food Systems - 2021, held on September 23, 2021, was a key event for the common goal - to transform national food systems to advance the Sustainable Development Agenda up to 2030. The summary of the Summit reflects the vision of the role that food systems can play in building a fairer and more sustainable world.

In the context of preparations for participation in the UN Summit on Food Systems, the Ministry of Economy during May-August 2021 held a number of events in the framework of the National Dialogue on Food Systems.

In order to identify national priorities and ways to transform food systems to ensure their sustainability, which will contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, the Ministry together with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy organized a series of public discussions with experts, academia and the public.

Based on the results of the discussions, drafts of the National Report and the National Roadmap for the Transformation of Food Systems in Ukraine were prepared.
