Ukraine will harvest more than 31 million tons of corn and will more than double barley exports

In the new 2026/27 season, Ukraine may increase corn and barley production, while the wheat harvest is expected to be lower – according to the FAS USDA report.

Ukraine increased long rolled products import by 63.9% y/y in the first quarter

In January-March 2026, the long rolled metal products market in Ukraine showed significant import growth – by 63.9% compared to the same period of 2026, to 81.48 thousand tons.

The main volumes of supplies are other bars and rods of carbon steel, without further processing, twisted – 26.74 thousand tons, which is 3.2 times more y/y. Turkey sent 20.39 thousand tons of products, Egypt – 4.99 thousand tons.

Cargoes of the mining and metallurgical complex (iron ore, ferrous metals, coal, coke and limestone for fluxing) account for an average of 47% of the total volume of “Ukrzaliznytsia” transportation. The total volume of GMK transportation in 2025 decreased by 53% compared to 2021 – to 76.8 million tons from 163.3 million tons.

In the period from April 1 to 23, the volume of road export of agricultural products amounted to 214.8 thousand tons, which corresponds to an average daily level of about 9.3 thousand tons.

Ukraine has entered the top-3 buyers of Turkish tomatoes

Turkey is strengthening its positions in the global tomato market and increasing exports, in particular to Ukraine, which has entered the top three largest importers of this product.

The country is one of the leading tomato producers in the world with an annual volume of about 14 million tons. The products are supplied not only fresh, but also processed – dried, frozen, crushed and dehydrated.

Traffic movement was restricted until June at one of the checkpoints on the border with Poland

Road surface repair works started on April 24, 2026, in the service area before the “Rava-Ruska” checkpoint on the Ukrainian side.

The repair will be carried out in stages on the traffic lanes both for entry into Ukraine and exit from Ukraine. In this regard, traffic will be organized in a two-way mode using one lane.

The repair is expected to last until June 1, 2026.
